Emily Leiby, Emma McCann and Erfan Amini

Department of Defense honors two Stevens undergraduates, Ph.D. student recognized for  renewable energy research

 

Emily Leiby '24 '25, civil engineering undergraduate student and Emma McCann '24, environmental engineering undergraduate and co-op student, are recipients of the U.S. Department of Defense Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship. This award provides both students with full tuition for up to five years, mentorship, summer internships, a stipend and full-time employment with the DoD after graduation.

 

Erfan Amini, Ph.D. student, won the "2022 Clean Energy College Student of The Year" by The Cleanie Awards for his high-quality research of ocean renewable energy conversion and optimization. Amini is advised by Dr. Reza Marsooli.

Scholarship Awarded to Construction Engineering and Management Student

Yash Shah, master's student in the construction engineering and management program, was the recipient of the Jerome Frommer Memorial Scholarship, issued through the Utilities and Transportation Contractors Association to provide students with the opportunity to advance their studies in the field of construction.

Aspa Kokro

Aspa Kokro wins inaugural Donald L. Blount Scholarship

Aspa Kokro has been selected as the inaugural Donald L. Blount Scholar by the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers. He will receive $10,000 to support his studies of High-Speed Craft Hydrodynamics at Davidson Laboratory. This high honor is both a recognition of his accomplishments and evidence of SNAME’s confidence in his ability to achieve greater stature in the profession. Kokro is advised by Dr. Raju Datla.
